I, like you, am a curious human being. As a Teacher and Author I have determinedly pursued my life long fascination with human nature. Long ago I realised that human behaviour could never be clearly understood without a practical understanding of Consciousness, and not just human consciousness. My curiosity has led me to understand the non-duality of body and mind, matter and spirit in a practical, transformative way, while showing me how much more than interconnected we all are. Not only to each other, but to every expression and form of life.
This has allowed me to develop methodologies of Somatic Intimacy that invite an authentic embodiment of human potential.
Many years teaching these has led me to a pragmatic, though inevitably incomplete, understanding of Consciousness as the source and substance of nature, including human nature. This understanding, novel and subtle as it may be, readily contextualises and fertilises the underlying assumptions of both science and religion.
I am deeply indebted to the generosity, compassion and genius of the following human beings,
without whom I would have little of interest to share:
my mother, Barbara, who gave me a love without limit
my father, Humphrey, who gave me a relentless hunger for the truth
my brother, Robert, for protecting me when crossing lines i could not see
my teacher, Oliver Ramsbotham, who showed me which way to go
my secret teacher, TW Evans, who showed me method to accompany my madness
my good friend Robert Beaumont, who taught me not to believe
my first love and still best friend, Caroline Root
my uncle, Tim Hollis, who gave me the gift of Yoga
my vision-brother Petar Bach for digging in so deep
my vision-brother Jodi for teaching me that love needs no formal expression
my soul sister, Elena Antinucci, who taught me to be willing to feel
Mike Burns, shaman, storyteller, for inspiring me to give of what i had been given
Steve & Jane for showing me the depths of love
Jacqueline Curtois for teaching me so sublimely
Patrick Dingwall for teaching me that the understanding that flows from love needs no language
William Spear for teaching me the meaning and power of integrity
Mike Abrahams for teaching me the meaning of generosity
Rez Ghari for teaching me the cost of loyalty
Juan Arkotxa, for being such incomparable company
Soten Genpo Roshi, for pulling no punches
Louise White, for giving me my path back into the world
Maloviere, for making me look again so potently
Anita, for giving me the most precious gift of my life
Bindu, for giving me love beyond measure and understanding beyond price
Andy, for keeping me sane with daily doses of inanity
Arum, my son, for being such a good friend
Rosalba, for teaching me the power of the subtle
Kali Ornelas, for giving me the master key
Pete, for being such a playful embodiment of wisdom
Olivia Crooks, for always having my back
Joe, Malcolm, Caroline, Petar, Jodi, Kathleen, Jane and Juan for a lifetime of friendship
Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to
my longtime friend Jane, my more recent friend Pete, and my eldest daughter Rohese
for the ruthless compassion you have always displayed
in refusing to allow me to stagnate in my incompletely explored assumptions and their foolishness.
and one more special thanks to Juan
for his many paintings that i used as header illustrations
