The Dynamic Yoga Training Method is a somatic, meditative approach to yoga posture practice. It is based directly on how the human body moves and works, and only indirectly on tradition. Simultaneously it deeply embodies the wisdom of Patanjali's yoga sutras. Movement is used as the necessary neuromuscular primer for stillness. Its compass is not what you can do, but what you are feeling. This makes it safe and accessible for anyone able to walk upstairs unaided, while effortlessly modifiable for any that can not.
The Dynamic Yoga Training Method has three training frequencies, each guided by the somatic intelligence of the body. Each frequency is based on different rhythmic movements and postures that activate somatic intelligence and harmonise the mind. The movements and postures used are presented as variable templates for action, so that individual variations in capability and anatomy choreograph each person's experience uniquely. At the core of each frequency is developing sensitivity to sensation. This mobilises the intelligence of mind into the body, calming and stabilising it. At the same time it releases somatic intelligence from its learned constraints so that it mobilises spontaneously towards wholeness (Yoga).
Ullola Vinyasa (sensitisation)
Ullolavinyasa is the foundation frequency of the method, designed to sensitise intelligence. Safe, accessible movements, linked to the rhythm of the breath, are used to sensitise the mind to all the motor joints. This mobilises all the motor muscles, releasing them from their learned constraints and habits. The movements are fertilised by the Dynamic of Integrity, which allows them to recalibrate muscular relationships towards wholeness. Extended stillness is then used to generate a deep intimacy between mind and body, releasing the willingness to feel from its learned constraints, so mind surrenders to the deeper intelligence of the body.
Xandra Vinyasa (opening)
Xandravinyasa refines sensitivity to sensation to open the whole body into a Functional Integrity. It is based on the practice of Xandranamaskar, salutation to the moon. This combines rhythmic movements into a single, continuous flow. In being repeated, developed and modified this safe, accessible flow softens, releases and strengthens all the motor and structural muscles, while mobilising and stabilising all the joints, including the spine. The flow of Xandranamaskar is followed by floor postures that deepen somatic sensitivity and intimacy. Its experiential heart is softness as the key to refining actions from the intelligence of the body.
Surya Vinyasa (integration)
Suryavinyasa integrates action and experience into the presence of wholeness (Yoga). It is based on the practice of Suryanamaskar, salutation to the sun. Its flow of movements, followed by a flow of standing and floor postures, integrates the motor, structural and respiratory muscles into the presence of wholeness. As the different parts of the body integrate the Spiral Dynamic of Integrity spontaneously expresses itself. This takes pace in the arms (hastabandha), the legs (padabandha) and the relationship between the ribcage and the pelvis (merubandha). As this spirallic dynamic stabilises on the basis of whole body integration the vortex of the bandhas (mulabandha, uddyanabandha, jalandharabandha) spontaneously expresses itself in the core of the body. This returns the body to Structural Integrity, and integrates the intelligence of mind into the intelligence of Consciousness, by way of the intelligence of the body.
Each frequency of the Dynamic Yoga Training Method include pranayama and meditation practices that support and deepen its effects.
