FURTHER DETAILS ON TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
NB: that on some train times you can only buy the ticket online within 7 days of travel.
In Italy when you get your train ticket, you have to 'validate' it before getting on the train, you do this by inserting the end of the ticket into a small (usually green/white) machine that is normally located on each platform and in the lobby. If you dont validate you can be charged a fine from ticket inspectors who board the train (however i hear you can write on it the time and station you boarded if you forget- but best to validate if you remember).
In all the big cities people mostly speak english, however the signs will be in Italian.
In Italian the word for platform is 'BINARIO' (when you decide your train times online, make a note of the train number as that will help you work out what train you need to get when you look at the departure board and therefore what platform (which will be indicated by the word ‘BIN') that you need to be on.

ONCE IN BIBBIENA
Karen or a taxi will be there to pick you up from BIBBIENA train or bus station, if this has been arranged.
As soon as you know your arrival details (day and time) contact Karen. Once your arrival time is known, she will wait until all others (arriving on the same day) have contacted her and then try to make group collection times. Bibbienna has a wonderful ice cream parlor and cafe outside the train station for you to wait in if needed. Give her a contact number for yourself (and she will give you hers) as there might be last minute delays etc. The cost for this pick up is €45, which will be divided between all sharing the trip.
