- Teaching Breathwork. April 5th/6th & 13th
The simplest and perhaps most potent way to help people to feel more comfortable with themselves and with life is via their breathing. The breath not only provides the fundamental fire of life. It is also the link between the conscious and unconscious mind. At the same time it is also the most simple and direct way to access and regulate the nervous system. Most of its benefits can also be enjoyed by those unable to move due to illness or injury.
There is so much more to breathing than simply supplying oxygen to your cells.
At the same time it also discharges waste gasses, including carbon dioxide. Yet even as cells receive and release gasses they simultaneously expand and contract. Your body relaxes on a cellular level with every exhalation. With every inhalation it primes itself for action.
While internal, cellular respiration takes place below the threshold of awareness, external, pulmonary respiration is a part of everyone's everyday experience. Engaging with external respiration offers many possible benefits, not only regulating cellular respiration. By developing and training specific respiratory muscles you can teach people to do any and all of the following:

What will this training give you:
The power of breath work depends not only on understanding how to practice and teach the techniques, but also understanding how they work. This understanding needs to go beyond the body, and nervous system, into its relationship with mind and Consciousness. This course will provide you with that understanding. It will be based on a clear, pragmatic understanding of how human beings learn. We will use both active and passive breath work practices from the Power of Rhythm Training.
You will learn:
- the relationship between body, mind and awareness in theory
- the relationship between body, mind and awareness in practice
- the experiential role of the nervous system
- how the body learns
- how the mind learns
- the dynamics of embodiment
Becoming a great teacher:
However, there is more to teaching than knowing what, how, when and why to practice and teach. A good teacher needs to be able to communicate with simplicity, clarity and relevance. This Course will show you how to use words to make your knowledge and experience of breathing and breath work a powerful resource for teaching, training and healing.
You will:
- learn the role of metaphor and imagery in embodiment
- learn to distinguish between abstract, experiential and somatic vocabularies
- learn how to use words to embody the mind
- develop a potent experiential vocabulary
- learn the power of repetition in giving somatic instruction
- learn the power of volume, tone, pace and rhythm in giving somatic instruction
