DECEMBER 2024-MAY 2025
Yoga is the embodiment of wholeness. Yoga posture practice does this from the body to Consciousness. There are many different approaches to yoga posture practice, but they all depend upon the same foundation: integrated activation of the whole body. Teaching Yoga is perhaps the most satisfying and meaningful activity. Yet, it is not as easy as it can be made to look. You need not only to know what you are offering on the basis of your own embodied experience. You also need to know how to transmit that to the experience of others.
Whatever style of practice you favour it must establish Pathways of Wholeness, from the body to Consciousness. Then the power and wisdom of Consciousness can flow along these pathways into daily life (Ishvarapranidanah) as an embodied sense of vitality and safety. These pathways are established by refining the relationships between the obvious parts of the body (asana). This is done by using small local muscles in the whole body that integrate all the motor, structural and respiratory muscles: an integration esoterically known as "the bandhas in the whole body" (Sarvangabandha).
Our Heart of Yoga training will show you how to use the subtle 'functional' actions to activate and integrate the whole body. This will take place in the Embodiment Module in December. These actions must take place within any and all postures, fertilising them. Some of these actions require the availability of deep, structural muscles that need to be activated and strengthened. This will be taken care of in Strengthening Modules 2 and 3. They will provide you with the tools to activate and strengthen the core muscles of your spine, abdomen and throat. Integrating Module 4 will focus on accessing the power of free breathing within the postures so that the Heart of Yoga opens (sushumna). The Teaching Skills Module 5 will show you how to teach the bandhas and pranayama to others, both in both posture and pranayama practice.
No matter what style of yoga you practice or teach, what shapes you use, or sequences you present them in, this training will give you the tools to refine and deepen your practice and teaching, without any need for special skills, extreme abilities, or even familiarity with yoga texts.
The foundation of the Training is four embodiment modules.
