An experiential invitation to deep enquiry.
We all have a longing for more, a conviction that there must be more to life than what we daily do and collectively know. This has not only led to philosophy and religion, but also to the oriental spiritual practices that have given us so many enticing and revered ideas. Ideas that we may not fully understand but try perhaps to live by. Many of these ideas appear to conflict with our daily needs and animal nature.
We are exhorted to cultivate detachment, transcend the self and relinquish our preferences. We are asked to believe in states of grace and perfection, that we have lived many previous exciting lives and will do so again. While there may be some validity in some of these ideas, as long as they remain ideas they contribute to the longing, hope and wishful thinking that prevent you from being at peace in the present, with your life, others and yourself.
This series will provide you with inner experience to clarify and validate spiritual ideas and possibilities. Each session will explore, experientially and theoretically, a different spiritual concept so that its significance becomes clear. Each will begin and end with a guided meditation that will allow you to distill and digest its theme, giving you the keys to embody them through ongoing practice. This progressive exploration will uncover a common thread that unifies spiritual ideas into a rich and potent orientation for a life well lived.
